The 'Boyfriend' singer was doing an interview for detroit Radio station MojoMorning earlier this week when he was asked about his friendship with members of One Direction.
Bieber replied to radio host Thomas Carbollot that he thought the 1D guys were "good kids" to which Carbollot then answered by making jokes about Harry's taste for older women.
He cheekily asked "Do you worry about Harry around your mom, since he likes older women?"
Bieber asked the host to repeat the question and then said "I think you should worry about your mom, though."
Carballot then responded by revealing that his mother was dead. Bieber then hung up and the interview was cut short.
Bieber's management did admit that the star was "a little upset" by the question after attempts to reconnect the call failed. However after speaking to him again, they said he would "probably not" call the station back.
When Carballot was asked why he asked the question he said that he decided to ask about Styles after hearing Bieber's girlfriend Selena Gomez joke about their friendship on a talkshow.
"She made a comment that they'd been becoming friends with One Direction," explained show producer Rachel Giordano.
"She jokingly said: 'Ha ha, Justin said we need to keep our moms away because they're hot and young for Harry'. So Justin made a joke, Selena was recounting that story and that's where [we] got it from."
Uh oh it seems puberty may be getting to Bieber as he's been getting upset quite easily lately. Should Bieber learn to take a joke, or was the interviewer wrong for mentioning his 'mom'?
